The 46th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-46) will meet in Montreal, Canada, from 6-10 September 2017, and will be preceded by the 54th meeting of the IPCC Bureau on Tuesday, 5 September.
IPCC-46 is expected to address the IPCC Trust Fund Programme and Budget, including: the budgets for 2018, 2019 and 2020; resource mobilization; and audit of the 2016 financial statements. Regarding scoping of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), the Panel will discuss the three proposed Working Group outlines, as well as the proposed outline of the Synthesis Report (SYR), which were drafted during the AR6 Scoping Meeting, held from 1-5 May 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Panel also has on its agenda: an update on progress of the Ad Hoc Task Group on Financial Stability; admission of observer organizations; report of the Conflict of Interest Committee; future of the Task Group on Data and Scenario Support for Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA); alignment of the cycles of the IPCC and the global stocktake; developing country participation in IPCC activities; short-lived climate forcers; and matters related to the UNFCCC and other international bodies.
IPCC-47 will also hear progress reports on: the three Special Reports on Global Warming of 1.5°C (SR15), the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) and Climate Change and Land (SRCCL); the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories; the TGICA; the Expert meeting on Mitigation, Sustainability and Climate Stabilization Scenarios, held in April 2017; communication and outreach activities; and the IPCC Scholarship Programme.
